FBC Pollock Church History
Mission Statement
"Our mission is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with as many people as we possibly can. In short, we want to grow Disciples for Christ and impact the nations for the Glory of Christ beginning with our community and reaching the uttermost."

Pastor Nick Taylor
On August 27, 2006 I was called as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Pollock, LA. My wife, our son Isaac, and I moved to Pollock after Hurricane Katrina interrupted our lives while finishing school at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS). Upon arriving in Pollock, God provided a temporary job for me as high school librarian at Grant High. However, being called into the ministry, I was not satisfied doing anything other than being a pastor of a church.
My call to the gospel ministry came in 2000 while attending a weekly collegiate worship service at the BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministry) at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, LA. My wife, Tara, and I were married in July of 2001 and, after graduating from Nicholls, proceeded to New Orleans to attend seminary and work for Mission Lab; a missions organization of the seminary.
I completed a Master of Divinity in Biblical Languages from NOBTS in May of 2006 while working at Grant High and submitted my resume to First Baptist Church of Pollock. Through a series of events and under the prompting of the Holy Spirit, God called our family to serve at FBC Pollock. I first began serving as Associate Pastor under the Interim Pastor John Hebert and the Lord used this time to prepare both His church and His servant for what was to follow.
God has faithfully provided and continues to provide as He sees fit to bless the ministry of First Baptist Church. We are committed to impacting the nations for His glory, beginning here at Pollock and reaching to the uttermost. My prayer for our church is that God will develop within our congregation a heart that yearns for the nations as His does. Thus, our mission must be, as we go make disciples of all nations, through baptizing, and teaching knowing that God’s presence by His Holy Spirit leads us and guides us.
We are excited about planting our lives here in Pollock and growing with the community. We have three sons now: Isaac (2004), Jesse (2006), & Aaron (2008) and are committed to raising them in the instruction and fear of the Lord (Deuteronomy 6). We believe that discipleship must begin in the home and is reinforced in the church.
Associate Pastor
Youth Minister
John Ward
I grew up in Kansas and met wife Nancy there (although she grew up in Pineville, LA) and we were married in 2002. We have three wonderful children together - Elena (2003), Abigail (2007), and Jack (2009).
I received the call to ministry while attending a camp at the age of 16. God has continued to confirm that call in my life by opening the door to several ministry opportunities. My first ministry position was a part-time youth director at Glisan Street Baptist Church in Portland, OR. After serving a year there I traveled back to Kansas and joined the staff of Midland Ministries (a non-denominational youth ministry that played a great role in discipling me while a teenager). After two years with them, I was led to become the pastor of Morrill Baptist Church (the church I attended while on staff with Midland). Two years later I was led to become a full-time Associate/Youth Pastor at The Baptist Church in Concordia, KS. It was at Concordia that I met my wife and started our family. I was there for three years before moving to Arkansas to become the pastor of Sage Baptist Church. After serving at Sage for three years the Lord has blessed our family with the opportunity to serve here at First Baptist Church in Pollock. We came in June, 2008.
As a pastor, I understand that God has placed me as a shepherd over a portion of His sheep and that it is a serious and important task to faithfully instruct those under my care in His word, not mine. My heart for the youth is that they would know how deep God’s love for them is, that they would be established in and stand firm in the faith, and that they would know the joy that truly comes from faithfully following Jesus.
